2NE1′s leader, C.L, recently revealed some of her thoughts about her solo album. In an interview with
Billboard
on February 18, she said that after her currently scheduled activities
with the whole group, she plans to work solo for a while. She added,
“Since a solo album will be part of my life’s legacy, I’d like to do it
as an full EP rather than a single or mini EP. It’s most likely that
I’ll work with producer Teddy from YG Entertainment, but I’d like to
write some of my own songs as well.”
Before working solo, C.L will be back with new material by her whole
group in April. She talked about her ambitions beyond music. She wants
to take a part in breaking the common stereotypes of Asian women through
the activities of 2NE1. She stated, “I would like to stand up for Asian
women. I want to break the stereotypes. I want to let the world know
that there are amazing, adventurous women in Asia as well.”
C.L also talked about the music that will be on the new album. “The
songs will be the typical of the 2NE1 style—songs like ‘I Am The Best’
and ‘Can’t Nobody.’ The song ‘I Love You’ was a new kind of song not
only for the fans but also for us. We’ll go back to the lively, fun yet
different 2NE1 style.” She also mentioned that one of the songs on the
EP will be a love song like “I Love You.” She explained, “It’s a slow
love song about missing someone.”
