Super Junior’s Leeteuk will appear in a musical produced by the Ministry of National Defense.
On December 3, a spokesperson for the musical The Promise reported that Leeteuk, 8eight’s Lee Hyun, Jung Tae Woo, Kim Moo Yeol, and Ji Hyun Woo will appear in the musical The Promise, which is co-produced by the Ministry of National Defense and Korea Musical Association.
The Promise is a story about seven soldiers who went through many difficult times together at several battles during the Korean War.
The Ministry of National Defense also produced the musical Mine, which starred Kang Ta, Yang Dong Keun, and Jae Hee, in 2009, and the musical The Voyage of Life, which starred Lee Joon Gi, Joo Ji Hoon, and Kim Da Hyun, in 2010.
The Promise is directed by Lee Ji Na, who also directed Gwanghwamun Love Song and Seopyeonje, and written by Seo Yoon Mi, who also wrote Samcheon and Black Mary Poppins. Composer Choi Jong Yoon of Sherlock Holmes, music director Byun Hee Seok of All Shook Up, stage designer Seo Sook Jin of Man of La Mancha, and lighting designer Goo Yoon Yeong of Rudolph will also participate in the musical.
Besides the celebrities, who are currently doing their army service, such musical actors as Park Seon Woo will also appear in the musical. Leeteuk will start practicing for the musical after he finishes receiving the basic military training.
The Promise will be presented at the Haeorum Theater of the National Theater of Korea from January 9 to 20 next year. Ticket reservations will start on December 5.
