Multi-talented artiste Jay Park was in Singapore (yet again), this time for his first solo concert. The soloist proves that his talents are never-ending, adding comedy to his long list. From rapping and singing, to writing his own songs, and breaking out in sleek choreography, Jay Park is indeed an all-rounder.
Speaking to the media at The Butter Factory for his Press Conference, he recalls his debut experience venturing into comedy. Jay Park had starred on Saturday Night Live Korea(SNL Korea) end last year, which saw the December 1 episode drawing the highest ratings.
A fan of SNL, Jay Park had wanted to reveal his comedic side -something that most idol singers don’t have the chance to show in their daily performances. Jay admitted to it being a tad difficult (albeit fun) first experience. Given a short time frame to prepare his act, Jay was thankful for the do-able characters and short lines SNL had for him. “They(SNL) didn’t give me that many lines which is good ‘cos I’m not very good at memorising Korean lines…I don’t think I did too badly,” he added.
From what we see and hear, Jay’s debut comedy stint on SNL was definitely a successful one.
Jay doesn’t rule out the possibility of going into acting, but “for now, it’s music”. The singer-songwriter is in the midst of preparing his new album and reveals that there are 11 songs ready thus far. The new album will see collaborations with producers Primary and ChaCha Malone(ArtOfMovement member), Hip-Hop group Dynamic Duo as well as rappers Dok2 and The Quiett, whom he has worked with many times.
A more important collaboration would be that between Jay Park and G-Dragon of Big Bang. Fans have been on a frenzy since seeing a photo of the two artistes on G-Dragon’s instagram. Good news is that both parties are open to the idea of a collaboration! “We just gotta get the right song together and hopefully in the near future it will definitely happen,” assured Jay Park.
Known for his multiple tattoos, Jay Park revealed he had his first tattoo in 2010 and has since lost count. Nontheless, his tattoos have a deep meaning as they symbolise his passion for music and his bboy crew(AOM).
“My motto? YOLO! (You Only Live Once),” Jay Park jokingly answered after which he said, “Work hard play hard.” With this in mind, he hopes to be an established artist in 5 years’ time, where his music will be known and appreciated worldwide.
The press conference ended on a good note and was followed by a Meet-and-Greet session with fans. Jay Park fulfilled the fans’ wishes for hugs and striking couple poses.
