Singer Psy will give a lecture at the University of Oxford.
On October 22, a spokesperson for the Oxford Union, a debate club at the University of Oxford, said, “Psy accepted our invitation. We asked him to give a lecture on November 7.”
Psy was invited to the University of Oxford by Lee Seung Yoon, a president of the Oxford Union and a Korean student who studies at the university. He’s the first Asian president of the Oxford Union, elected in March. Lee said, “All executives of the Oxford Union and students at the University of Oxford were happy to invite Psy.”
Psy will give a lecture about his life and passion for music in English.
The Oxford Union is a student club that has a long history of 190 years. About 70 percent of the Oxford students, which is around 12,000, are registered in the union as members. It invites about 30 prominent figures every year for lectures. Such former presidents of the U.S. as Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, Mother Teresa, Dalai Lama, Michael Jackson, and Billy Joel gave lectures at the University of Oxford.
Hwang Chang Gyu, a director of R&D Strategic Planning Department of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, was the only Korean invited to the university for a lecture.
