The one and only boygroup under Pledis Entertainment, NU’EST heads out to Singapore for their very first solo showcase organized by Kpopgaga.
Despite being a rookie group, their debut in March was well-received and they were a band to look out for. Their popularity was evident from the throngs of fans who followed the boys throughout their stay in Singapore and the hot sale of tickets especially the Ambassador and VIP packages which allowed upclose interactions.
The 5 members;(L to R) Minhyun, Ren, JR, Baekho and Aron were seen earnestly answering the flood of media questions during the press conference session. Despite touching down in Singapore that very morning, they displayed professionalism and was in top form during the event.
Age is but a number, NU’EST shares with the media their dreams and ambitions as they reach for the stars. Baekho revealed their hopes of venturing into the international market and eventually having a world tour for their fans. Despite his young age, leader JR confidently sees NU’EST at the top and on the Billboard charts in 5 years time. Like all other rookies, Minhyun wishes for the group to win an award during the year end music ceremony, jokingly adding that he wanted to cry on stage upon receiving the award.
NU’EST does not simply sing, but spreads social messages through their songs. Their debut song ‘Face’ confronts the issue of bullying in schools while ‘Action’ encourages freedom and individuality. Their unique style and approach is indeed moving the hearts of people, as they aim to be the representatives of youths today.
NU’EST is just like anyone else, with common interests. When asked to share what they do during their free time, Baekho stated the usual playing of games, shopping and watching movies. What got the media’s attention was when JR mentioned their recent addiction of dramas, naming recent popular ones like ‘Nice Guy’ and ‘Reply 1997′.
Ren expresses his interest in fashion. When posed the question of what they would be if not a singer, the boys realistically answered a student as they are still at a schooling age. Minhyun would have auditioned for Superstar K to pursue his dream as a singer. On the other hand, Ren surprised with his answer of being a fashion designer. (Maybe he will start a clothing line in the near future, like other celebrities?)
An ideal date for any L.O.Λ.E(NU’EST fans). Sight-seeing was picked as the ideal activity if there was ever a chance of NU’EST bringing a fan to Korea. Being from Busan, Minhyun and Ren picked the beach whilst Baekho talked of the beautiful scenery and seaview of Jeju island. JR would bring the fan to eat in his parents restaurant in Gangwon-do while Aron chose Myeongdong which is where they filmed the MV for ‘Sandy’.
Memorable moments with L.O.Λ.E. Baekho shared a funny incident during April Fools’ Day in which their fans played a prank by being ‘absent’ during their performance in Korea. Dancing to an empty audience was something they could not forget. But of course, it was all in the name of fun. Another memorable fan-event would be the time when Thailand fans sang a birthday song for Minhyun at the airport.
Right after the press conference ended, fans began streaming in for the autograph and photo-taking session. Despite the long hours and back-to-back activities, the smiles never left the members’ faces and they were generous in their ‘fan-service’. Some lucky and pro-active fans were granted requests of handshakes and hugs from the members as well!
