“Gangnam Style” is one of the most frequently searched words on Yahoo!

Singer Psy’s song title ranked in the top ten of the most frequently searched terms on Yahoo! in the field of pop culture in 2012, as reported by ABS-CBN, a broadcaster in the Philippines, on December 3. The report went on to say that Psy’s popularity is soaring as his song “Gangnam Style” ranked second on the Billboard Hot 100, the main single chart, for seven consecutive weeks.
The highest rankings of frequently searched keywords in the field of pop culture also include the novel title Fifty Shades of Grey, the British boyband One Direction, and Carly Rae Jepsen’s hit song “Call Me Baby.”
Overall, the word election was the top search keyword on the Yahoo! search engine in 2012, and the same holds true for most other search portals as well. The second-most-searched word was “iPhone 5,” and “2012 London Olympics” placed seventh.
