At the second Gaon Chart K-pop Awards, which was held on February 13 at 7:00 p.m. at the Olympic Hall in the Olympic Park, Yang received the Producer of the Year.
Instead of Yang, Big Bang’s G-Dragon received the award as a substitute. G-Dragon got laughs by imitating Yang’s way of talking, saying, “I’m G-Dragon, Yang Hyun Suk’s secretary. Hello, I’m Yang Hyuk Suk. I couldn’t attend this award ceremony today, but I’m so happy to receive this award. I want to say thank you to the staff of YG Entertainment who have always worked hard for YG artists. I’ll try my utmost to become a good producer who contributes to the development of the Korean music industry. Thank you.”
The K-pop Awards selects the winners based on the accurate, objective data (sales volumes of songs and albums) collected by the Gaon Chart. The Artist of the Year is given to the groups that top the chart each month and quarter.
The award ceremony was hosted by Joo Young Hoon and Ga In from the Brown Eyed Girls. Such artists as Big Bang, Super Junior, TVXQ, SNSD-Tae Ti Seo, 2NE1, the Wonder Girls, and T-ara attended the awards.
