The music video of the world star Psy’s “Gangnam Style” was hit more than 500 million times on YouTube, only 98 days after the release.
It was released on July 15 as part one of the singer’s sixth album, and as of October 20, its number of views on Psy’s official YouTube account exceeds 500 million. By 3:28 a.m., the figure went up to 511 million.
Statistics show that the number of views gradually went up: the 19th (August 2), 41st (August 24), 52nd (September 4), 60th (September 12), 66th (September 18), 76th (September 28), and 86th (October 8) day since its release, the number increased respectively from 10 million, 50 million, 100 million, 150 million, 200 million, 300 million and 400 million.
Only 12 days after his music video was played 400 million times, it earned another 100 million clicks until October 20, once again confirming his strong foothold as a global star.
This number of views put “Gangnam Style” as the 4th most viewed video of all time. The top ranking belongs to Justin Bieber’s “Baby,” which was viewed 790,400,000 times.
Jennifer Lopez’s “On the Floor” and Eminem’s “Love The Way You Lie” follow the rankings each with 699,200,000 and 560,100,000 views.
In the meantime, Psy left for Australia on October 15 to promote his album and officially begin his activities abroad.
On the 16th, he appeared as a special guest in the popular auditioning program The X-Factor Australia of Channel 7 and did the horse-riding dance with Melanie Brown, a member of popular girl group back in the 1990s, the Spice Girls.
The singer appeared in Channel 7’s morning show Sun Rise on the following day and gave a passionate performance of “Gangnam Style.” He has attracted attention with the photo in which he dances the horse riding dance with Hugh Jackman, another global star from Australia.
