Song Joong Ki selected as representative for an outdoor brand



Actor Song Joong Ki and actresses Gong Hyo Jin and Lee Yeon Hee, who are well known as fashionistas, were recently selected as representatives for the outdoor brand North Face. The brand held a ceremony on December 20 with the three stars.
Starting for spring and summer of 2013, the three representatives will promote new products from the brand. Gong has worked for the brand from 2008 to 2010. Song met the grand while shooting KBS’s series Innocent Man and Lee has been working for the brand since 2011.
An official for the brand says, “Since our brand has grown in Korea and drawn various customers, we decided to select three representatives. They will show off their appeals in a loving environment.”

MBLAQ’s Lee Jun was a handsome student


An yearbook picture of MBLAQ’s Lee Jun was recently released.
An online community posted a picture with the caption, “A yearbook picture of MBLAQ’s Lee Jun.”
In the picture, Lee is showing off his superior appearance, which hasn’t changed a bit. His bright eyes and sharp nose drew a lot of attention.

Actress Song Hye Kyo recently showed off her appeal through a pictorial.
Song was featured on the January issue of the fashion magazine ELLE. In the picture, Song is wearing a black bobbed hairstyle in a pink dress.
Song will return to the small screen for the first time in five years through new TV series That Winter The Wind Blows. She plays the role of a rich, blind girl named Oh Young. To play her role, she visited the blind and talked together about their lives and happiness.
The pictorial and interview, in which Song appears, will be published on the January issue of the magazine.

Big Bang’s T.O.P is a ‘Musical Hotty We Wanna Meet Under the Mistletoe’


Big Bang’s T.O.P was recently selected as an attractive man in the United States.
On December 20 (local time), the U.S. FUSE TV released the ’25 Musical Hotties We Wanna Meet Under the Mistletoe.’
The mistletoe is an Old World parasitic shrub with green stems, leathery leaves and waxy white glutinous berries, usually used for Christmas decoration. It’s been said if a man and a woman stand under the mistletoethey have to kiss.
This means that T.O.P has been chosen as an attractive man people want to kiss on Christmas. T.O.P joined other stars on the list including, Usher, Frank Ocean, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Kesha, Rihanna, Carly Rae Jepsen, Bruno Mars, and Adam Lambert.
The FUSE TV also selected Big Bang’s fifth EP Alive as one of the Top 40 best EP of the year on December 14. They reported, “Their songs “Bad Boy” and “Blue” are simple and “Fantastic Baby” is an electronic, which complement each other very well.”
Big Bang, who is currently touring the world, will complete the tour by holding encore concerts in Seoul on January 25 through 27.

Teen Top to give special performances on Music Bank



Teen Top, who swept over the music charts this year, will give a special performance on Music Bank.
The December 21 episode of KBS’s Music Bank will air various singers performing various songs, which have ranked first on the show.
Teen Top ranked first on the K-chart of the show in the first week of February with their song “Crazy.”
The song helped the group rank first on a music program of a network station for the first time in one and half years since their debut. Then the group also ranked first SBS’s Inkigayo and showed off their power.
They also received considerable attention by forming a human tower to celebrate their victory on Music Bank.
On the show, Teen Top will sing “Be Ma Girl” with Juniel and acoustic sounds. Chunji will perform SISTAR’s “Loving You” while showing off his sexy appeal with other singers.
The show, in which Teen Top will appear, will air today (Dec. 21) at 6:10 p.m.

T-ara will hold the first fan meetings in Japan


T-ara will hold the first fan meetings in Japan.
On December 21, Core Contents Media, T-ara’s agency, reported that T-ara will fly to Japan on December 24 and hold large-scale fan meetings in Tokyo and Osaka until December 28.
Because those are the first fan meetings for T-ara, the group have prepared a variety of events and hit songs to perform for their fans.
After the fan meetings, T-ara will attend the Korean three biggest TV stations’ music festivals.
T-ara have been on the first tour of Japan since June this year, making stops at Nagoya, Fukuoka, Sendai, Sapporo, and Tokyo. They’ll go on another tour of Japan on a larger scale next year at concert hall which can accommodate over 10,000 people.

Super Junior’s Kyuhyun says, “I am really full!”


Super Junior’s Kyuhyun recently released a picture of himself having dinner.
On December 21, Kyuhyun uploaded the picture on his Twitter account with the comment, “I successfully performed at the premiere of the musical Catch Me If You Can. I made a mistake four times, though. There are only five more plays for me to go! Haha. Thank you so much for the dinner tonight. I was really full.”
In the picture, Kyuhyun is having dinner with some of the cast after his performance for the musical Catch Me If You Can. He’s attracting a lot of attention with a bright smile on his face.

B2ST recently did a photo shoot for the fashion magazine Vogue Girl.
With a gym as a setting, B2ST members show off a charismatic, manly look in the pictorial.
The female model, Kim Ye Rin, who did the photo shoot with Du Jun, is still a high school student, but she shows off a mature look in the pictorial.
One of the crew says, “Despite the cold weather, B2ST members portrayed a variety of images. We were very surprised.”
The pictorial, which was done in collaboration with the athletic brand HEAD, can be seen in the January issue of Vogue Girl.

Big Bang’s G-Dragon recently took a picture with his pet, Jolie, in the same color of outfits.
On December 20, G-Dragon uploaded the picture on his Twitter account with the comment, “Orange.”

Is Hwayoung joining Moon Chae Won’s agency?


It’s been recently found out that Hwayoung, who used to be a member of T-ara, is currently considering about joining MSteam Entertainment, an agency that represents actresses Moon Chae Won and Lee Min Jung.
On December 21, a spokesperson for MSteam Entertainment reported, “We’ve met Hwayoung several times to make a contract with her and talked about her future career. She hasn’t signed a contract with us yet. We heard that she is still considering. Since she left Core Contents Media, her former agency, she has declined some agencies’ offers because she was thinking of becoming an actress.”
Hwayoung left T-ara at the end of July this year.

Lee Seung Gi tops the U.S. Billboard K-pop Chart for four weeks


Actor and singer Lee Seung Gi has topped the U.S. Billboard K-pop Chart for four consecutive weeks.
According to the latest Billboard Chart issued on December 21, “Turning Back,” the lead track of Lee’s new album released on November 22, topped the K-pop Hot 100 again.
The song has topped the chart for four consecutive weeks. It’s also currently topping the major online music charts in Korea.
As an emotive ballad, the song is characterized by repetitive melody and lyrics in the chorus part.
Akdong Musician, who have appeared on K-pop Star 2 as a contestant, ranked second with “You Are Attractive.” The project group formed by Sung Si Kyung, Park Hyo Shin, Lee Seok Hoon, Seo In Guk, and VIXX ranked third with their Christmas song, “Because It’s Christmas.”
B2ST’s Yo Seob ranked fourth with “Caffeine,” and Kim Beom Soo and Park Jung Hyun ranked fifth with their duet song, “White Winter.”

SNSD will do a cover version of Duffy’s “Mercy”


SNSD will come out with new material in fourteen months.
On December 21 at 10:00 a.m., SNSD released “Dancing Queen,” one of the tracks from their fourth album, on major music sites. It’s a cover version of the British pop singer Duffy’s hit song, “Mercy.” The song was recorded by SNSD four years ago.
As an unreleased song, “Dancing Queen” was included in the fourth album as the concept of the album is Time Machine, which symbolizes SNSD’s past, present, new challenge, and future.
Before releasing the album in early January next year, SNSD released a cover version of a popular song that appeals to people at all ages.
It’s been fourteen months for SNSD to release a new album in Korea since they released the third album, The Boys, in October last year. Except for SNSD-Tae Ti Seo’s “Twinkle” and SNSD’s “Mr. Taxi,” “Dancing Queen” is the first song of SNSD to be released in Korea in a year and two months.
SNSD will also release new material in the U.S. next year. Having received a lot of attention as the K-pop artist to succeed Psy, SNSD will release a new album in English in the U.S.
The fourth album of SNSD will be released in early January next year.

B.A.P receive the New Artist Award in Germany


B.A.P recently proved their potential outside of Korea.
On December 19 (local time), B.A.P received the Best New Male Artist at the 2012 Remarkable Awards, in which German people participate.
B.A.P have ranked in the top five on the German Asian Music Charts with their debut song, “Warrior,” and “Don’t Do It.”
The winners of the Remarkable Awards, which shows the music and TV trends of Korea in Germany, are selected by German people. The nominees are selected by an expert group based on the German Asian Music Charts. It has been held for three years since 2010.
On December 14, B.A.P also received the Best New Artist Award at the 2012 Melon Music Awards, which was held at the Gymnastics Stadium in the Olympic Park. They also received the Best New Artist Award and the Best Choreography at the 2012 So-loved Awards, in which over 170,000 European people participate.
B.A.P also topped the 2012 Germany’s K-pop Rookie Charts, beating about 50 singers and singing groups who debuted this year.

Madame Tussauds wax figure of Kim Hyun Joong cost 200,000,000 won to make


A photo of a wax figure of singer and actor Kim Hyun Joong has been released. Madame Tussauds Busan announced that the wax figure of Kim will be on display starting from December 21. The figure was based on the singer’s look during his recent Asia concerts and is dressed in clothes and accessories that he wore during the concert tour. The clothes and accessories were donated to Madame Tussauds Busan for the wax figure. Reportedly, it cost 200,000,000 won and took about four months to create the wax figure, which was based on over 500 detailed physical measurements of the star.
Madame Tussuads Busan will be open at the Shinsegae Centum City in Hae-undae-gu, Busan, until March 2013. On exhibition are wax figures of celebrities and characters from movies, including Bae Young Joon, Nickhun, Michael Jackson, and Spiderman.

SNSD’s new material is coming soon.
On December 20th, SM Entertainment surprised everyone by releasing a teaser picture that said ‘SNSD 2013 12/21/2012 10 AM’. This excited fans and it was suspected that the girls would be pre-releasing a track from their upcoming 4th Korean album, set to be released in January. A new teaser picture was uploaded via the different social networking sites, this time saying, “Coming soon [dugeun dugeun]“.

Lena Park receives a laptop from Psy

The episode of KBS2′s Happy Together 2 that aired on December 20 was titled “Christmas  Concert.”
Lena Park spoke of customs in doing a featuring in K-pop music industry. “Doing a featuring in K-pop world is usually arranged by a friendship rather than a contract. It’s like to give a gift to your friend. One day, I was asked to work with Psy, who I barely know in person. I was like, ‘Psy?’ and I was really busy getting ready for a concert. I had to refuse as I couldn’t get down to it, but he didn’t stop asking and contacted me several times. In the end, I couldn’t decline him anymore, so I got down to working with his song.”
Lena Park obviously seemed to have had no desire to collaborate with the world-famous “Gangnam Style” singer because of her busy schedules.
The songbird, however, added: “In the end, I feel happy that his album hit it big and I was given a nice laptop as a gift from Psy.”

SNSD’s Yoona and CNBLUE’s Yong Hwa to emcee KBS Song Festival


SNSD’s Yoona, CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa, and singer Sung Si Kyung will emcee KBS Song Festival, which will be held on December 28 in Seoul.
On December 21, an official for KBS said, “Yoona, Jung, and Sung were selected as MCs for the song festival. The festival will be held in a totally different way.”
The official added, “Singers will give new performances without competing against each other. They are now busy preparing for their unconventional performances.”
Unlike during previous festivals, a KBS announcer will not appear as an MC. The production crew said that they wanted give a change to the festival so that all generations can enjoy the festival together.
The KBS Song Festival will air on December 28 at 8:50 p.m.

f(x)’s Krystal once again surprises viewers with her perfect abs



Recently, f(x)’s Krystal has shown off her beautifully shaped abs.
There was a special feature of KBS 2’s Music Bank on December 21 celebrating the end of the year. Krystal gave a joint performance of a carol medley with the member Sulli, Miss A’s Suzy, 4Minute’s Kwon So Hyun, and Kara’s Kang Jiyoung.
In advance to the performance, Krystal and Sulli sang “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” together. She appeared in white skinny jeans with a red knitwear, showing off her slim, solid figure. Especially because her top was short, you could see her perfect 11-shaped abs.
The episode also featured performances by TVXQ, Infinite, SHINee, Kara, B2ST, Sistar, Teen Top, T-ara, 2AM, Jung Eunji, Cool, Miss A, Juniel, FT Island, Ailey, B.A.P, BTOB, 4Minute, K.Will, and Boyfriend.

Park Ji Min of 15& remakes Lim Jung Hee’s “Clockwork”


The female duo 15&’s Park Ji Min is to come up with her own interpretation of one of Lim Jung Hee’s songs. For a project in which rookie singers reinterpret masterpieces of other veteran singers of JYP Entertainment, Park decided to remake “Clockwork,” originally sung by Lim Jung Hee. On December 21, the singer posted a video clip online of herself singing the song with her unique voice and personal emotional twist. In the video, she successfully portrays the lyrical sentiments of the original song. It is said that the way she sings the high notes fully delivers the mournfulness of the original classic.
15& is going to perform four other songs and release them under the title of “15& Sound.”

Infinite’s Dong Woo and Hoya start a hip-hop unit dubbed Infinite H, to debut in January



The seven-member idol group Infinite will reveal a whole new side of themselves with their first unit activities in the new year. The group’s Dong Woo and Hoya have formed a hip-hop unit, dubbed Infinite H, and will make their first appearance in January. Dong Woo and Hoya are the rappers of the group and have prepared a long time for this new gig. They’ve already have demonstrated their talent through Infinite’s concerts.
A publicist for Infinite says, “We plan to leverage the unique hip-hop sound of Infinite H to broaden Infinite’s musical spectrum.”
The H in Infinite H stands for “hip-hop,” and the talented hip-hop music producer Primary has joined them. Primary, who previously wrote hit songs such as “See Though” and “?” for Dynamic Duo, Jay Park, Mblaq, and G.O will be handling the production of Dong Woo and Hoya’s music.
Vocalist Kim Sung Kyu of Infinite recently released some solo work in the rock genre, so this new unit group will take Infinite another step befond, into hip-hop music as well.
Infinite made it to the top of idol groups with their hit song “Chaser.” They are leading the K-pop wave by holding solo concerts in Korea and Japan.

2AM’s Jo Kwon blows a kiss



On the afternoon of December 21, 2AM’s Jo Kwon uploaded a “kissy face” picture of himself on his Twitter page with the caption, “It’s been quite a while since I got to be on Music Bank. Uploading for the I AM who miss me.”
The picture is filled with Jo Kwon’s face. His skin looks perfectly clean despite the fact that the picture was taken at such a close range. He looks funny with his mouth puckered up as if he’s ready for a kiss.
