Wonder Girls Back With a Bang in Singapore Concert

Despite their long absence in Asia, the Wonder Girls proved that they are still in top form and popular as ever. Kicking off their Wonder World Tour with the first stop in Singapore, the girls did everything imaginable. From singing to rapping, serenading with a piano and rocking it out with guitars; you name it, the Wonder Girls did it.

The 2-hour long concert had the girls performing with a live band, with a 23-song setlist. The girls showed different sides through their wide range of songs. They showed their cute aegyo through pop songs like ‘Tell Me’ and dance numbers like ‘Nu Shoes’, ‘DJ is Mine’ and ‘Like This’. Their vocals were further exemplified through a ballad medley consisting of songs ’Feeling Sorry’, ’I tried’, and ‘Wishing on a Star’.
There were many high points in the concert, that deserves a thumbs up.

The opening act by labelmates JJ Project got the atmosphere going as the duo literally bounced and run around on stage singing to their debut songs ‘Bounce’ and ‘Hooked’. Their high energy was indeed infectious!

Solo performances by each member, gave the Wonder Girls a chance to shine on stage and bask in the limelight. Rapper Yubin blew the audience with a remix version of hit song ‘So Hot’. Indeed the heat was on, as the chic rapper strutted on stage in a black leather mini-dress and white vest. No less ‘hot’, decked in a sexy low v-cut dress,  Yenny crooned to a song off the drama Dream High, titled ‘Hello To Myself’. Lim had on a hip-hop rapper image and performed ’Act Cool’ together with JJ Project. Leader Sunye impressed by performing Miss A’s hit song ‘Touch’ on the piano.

The big surprise that the girls had in store for local fans (not much for the media as Yubin had innocently revealed it in a press conference earlier) was donning on the iconic Sarong Kebaya. Despite the body-hugging fit, the girls seem to effortlessly and elegantly dance to ’R.E.A.L’ and ‘Be My Baby’. Definitely a unique highlight of the concert!

It would have been a superbonus to see Wonder Girls transformed into characters like Snow White and Red Riding Hood as they did in Korea. But the Sarong Kebaya did add a sweet local touch.
The concert ended with an encore stage of the ever-popular track ‘Nobody’. Most of the fans in the front seats immediately got on their feet and danced along passionately. The quintet proved once again that they are in top form.
