Will Psy release “Dokdo Style?” The government is now considering naming Psy an honorary ambassador for Dokdo.
Making “Dokdo Style” was mentioned by a high-ranking official in the government on September 17,
According to reports, the high-ranking official said, “We’ll consider asking Psy to make ‘Dokdo Style.’ It’s important to make a commercial for Dokdo funny like ‘Gangnam Style.’”
Reporters asked, “How about naming Psy an honorary ambassador for Dokdo?” and he said, “We don’t want to burden him, but we’ll still consider.”
“Dokdo Style” is considered as one way to stand against Japan’s continuous provocation regarding Dokdo. By promoting Dokdo in a funny way, the government is trying to let people from all over the world know that Dokdo is Korean territory.
The music video of Psy’s “Gangnam Style” has received almost two hundred million hits. As of September 17, the song topped the Top Songs Chart of the iTunes in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Denmark, Finland, and Netherlands.
Because of the song’s popularity, Psy has also become popular all over the world. He has promoted himself by appearing at the U.S. MTV Video Music Awards, on a talk show on NBC, and on Saturday Night Live.
Psy will perform at iHeart Radio Music Festival, which will be held on September 21 and 22 in Las Vegas, with Usher, Rihanna, and Bon Jovi.
