SHINee with a new image twist: colorful suits

The “idol” group SHINee, which celebrates its sixth anniversary this year, has attempted a new look—suits—and they manage to carry it off with confidence.
On February 20, there was a showcase for the group’s third official album, Dream Girl, at the Handball Arena in Seoul Olympic Park. Prior to the official ceremony, all the members of SHINee (On.U, Key, Jong Hyun, Min Ho, and Tae Min) appeared in a press conference and shared some anecdotes about their preparation for the album and told about their plans for promoting it. As you can see on the album jacket, SHINee expressed a more mature sentiments by dressing in suits. About the new costume, the group said, “Since our debut, we’ve stuck to our own unique, maniacal way of presenting ourselves and our music over all, and that has become our image. We wanted to keep that but also try doing music in a more comprehensive sense. We can tell that we getting older, and for each album, we’ve taken our age into consideration. Once again, we wanted to appeal with a cheerful, playful ‘young men’ image. We’ve avoided wearing suits on stage on purpose in the past, but this time we can offer a more mature appeal. We’re wearing suits but also with characteristics that are unique to us. You’ll still see some SHINee-like charm with special props and our colorful suits.”
The showcase was hosted by Jun Hyun Moo and it had a bright atmosphere. The singers sang their title track “Dream Girl” and some other songs from the album such as “Aside” and “Beautiful” along with their earlier hits “Sherlock,” “Lucifer,” and “Noona Is So Pretty.” There were about three thousand people in the audience.
